On the clear, crisp, cool morning of October 16, 2023 Audrey Charlene Baccus made the transition from this life into the next. She was born the middle child of five on February 11, 1937. She married Charles Rayburn Baccus on July 16, 1955 not long after she graduated High School in Winfield. They were married 65 years. Charlene’s greatest love and joy was for her family. She will be greatly missed but the healing of heaven and her faith in Christ give the family comfort, especially after dealing with pancreatic cancer for the last couple of years.

Charlene is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Rayburn Baccus, an infant daughter, Pricilla, parents, John Pearson and Audrey Humber, her brothers, Pearson Melvin and John Louie Humber. She is survived by her sisters, Lurene Corkren and Ilene Hayes, her son Rev. Steve Baccus and his wife Donna, daughter, Denise Starbird and husband Edwin, her grandchildren Matthew Baccus and his wife Mary Beth, and Christina Starbird. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren Anslee, Addie, and Raylan, and a host of other relatives and friends.

A Service of Death and Resurrection will be held at Bowen Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 19. There will be a time of visitation with the family from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Please send no flowers. Donations in Charlene’s honor may be made out to HOPE Church, 805 Crest Drive, Gardendale, Alabama 35071, or to the Grigg’s Place Cemetery fund.

Heartfelt thanks goes to Anissa Blair and Hospice of Northwest Alabama, Inc. for their loving care and concern. Thanks also to Tammy and the wonderful staff at Country Place in Winfield, and to our amazing Alicia Bratton and her Mom Frankie Jean Humber for always being there for Charlene. We love you all!
