Mr. James William Barnett, better known as “Bill”, age 81 of Winfield, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Bill was a 1958 graduate of Phillips High School. He retired from Phifer Wire Products after many years of long road truck driving; but his favorite jobs were farming and spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Joe and Pearlie Hicks Barnett, a brother, Raymond Barnett, and 3 sisters, Ora Mae Linley, Sylvia Williford, and Pauline “Polly” Dodd. Bill is survived by his children, Earl Barnett and Chris Barnett of Winfield, a daughter, Veronica “Ronnie” Edwards of Guin, granddaughter, Brookelynn Rea (Dusty) of Winfield, a brother, Ray Barnett of Winfield, sisters, Christine Jackson of Haleyville, Earnestine Britnell of Haleyville, Nora Corkren of Brilliant, Brenda Ward of Brilliant, Jackie McInnish of Bear Creek, and Ann Dykes of Brilliant, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral service for Bill will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 23, 2020 from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. (service time) on Sunday at the funeral home. Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Barnett family.
