Mrs. Exie Lee Wates Henderson, age 94 of Winfield, passed away on Saturday, March 5^th 2022. Mrs. Henderson was born in Marion County on January 22, 1928 to Author and Mary Sanders Wates. Mrs. Henderson was a lifelong resident of Winfield. She worked in the sewing industry for over 30 years, and baby sat for many local children for over 15 years. Mrs. Henderson loved quilting, working in her garden, and canning vegetables. She always loved to provide her down home cooking for her family, church family, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Henry Oxley Henderson, her grandsons, Bobby Anthony Henderson and Jeffrey Alvin Henderson, a great grandson, Nathan Hill Henderson, her brothers, Glen, Hershel, Earl, Bob, Marshal, Bill, and Ellis Wates, and her sisters, May Hilton, Raye Adams, and Frances Porter. She is survived by 3 daughters, Virginia Ann Ewing of Tennessee, Rita Faye Henderson of Winfield, and Anita Kaye Cochran (Scott) of Winfield, 3 sons, Henry Alvin Henderson (Trib) of Hubbertville, Robert Ray Henderson (Lanetta) of Tennessee, and James Michael Henderson (Jackie) of Winfield, 12 grandchildren, 20 great great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Winfield City Cemetery. Dr. Larry Wates and Brother David Beatty will officiate. The visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. (service time) at the funeral home.
