Mr. Albert (Joe) Johnson, age 82, went Home to be with his Lord and Savior and a reunion with his wife, Dot, on Monday, March 28, 2022.
Joe was always the ‘family fixer’, the one who wanted to ‘fix’ whatever was not in shape, to right a wrong and take care of everyone and meet any need they had. Joe served in the National Guard as 1st Sargent and was the ‘go to guy’ at the Guin Armory in 1974 when the tornados almost wiped the town off the map. His leadership helped many during the days, weeks, months as rebuilding the town began; showing again his desire to fix what he could.
Joe served as a deacon and taught an adult Sunday School class at Winfield Free Will Baptist Church for many years.
Joe was loving, dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was so proud of his family and enjoyed their visits, the fishing trips and having lunch with one or more of the family as often as possible .
Joe is survived by his children, Stan (Connie) Johnson, of Guin, AL, Lee Ann (Sandy) Bozeman of Lincolnton, NC; grandchildren, Bethany (Mark) Hightower of Guin, AL, Ben (Melanie) Johnson, of Guin, AL, Brianna (Zach) Taylor of Madison, AL, and Timothy Bozeman and fiancé Karena Anggara of Pensacola, FL; great-grandchildren Hayden, Hudson, and Holden Hightower, Sawyer Jo Johnson, all of Guin, AL; a sister Margaret Stone of Moody, AL; sisters- in- law, Lillian Eads of Adger, AL, Francis Johnson, of Winfield, AL, Patsy Johnson, of Hanceville, AL, and Cora Lee Weeks, of Winfield, AL. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Doris (Dot) Eads Johnson, parents Fred & Polly (Sprinkle) Johnson, brothers Alvie, James and Paul Johnson, and a grandson, Jake Johnson.
A service for a life well-lived and one with a loving and caring heart will be Tuesday, March 29th at 6 p.m. at the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel, Winfield, AL. A visitation will be held from 4 until 6 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at the West Alabama Memorial Gardens, in Gu-Win, AL.
