Mrs. Jimmie Doris Crumpton Franks, age 97, of Winfield, passed away on Friday, February 18, 2022 in Northport, Alabama. Mrs. Franks was born in Dobbin, Texas in 1924 to Andy Gordon and Fannie LaBertha Brooks Crumpton.

She was a faithful member of the East Winfield Church of Christ and graduate of Longview High School in Longview, Tx. In 1945 she married Thomas E. “Ned” Franks and moved to Alabama. Mrs. Franks did many things in her lifetime. She taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and helped publish the church bulletins. She was a Girl Scout Leader, involved with the PTA, Home Demonstration Club, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Marion County Genealogical Society. Mrs. Franks enjoyed quilting and crocheting, writing, storytelling, line dancing and board games, especially Scrabble, Dominoes and “Hand and Foot” Canasta. She loved to travel and for many years she and Thomas traveled throughout the United States and North America. In addition, she also traveled to the Soviet Union, England, Ireland, Canada, Mexico and Venezuela.

She loved people and having fun with her family and friends, teaching them to line dance and hosting “hen parties” with skits, food, and fellowship.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. “Ned” Franks, son, Tommy Franks, her parents, siblings John, Hubert and Herbert Crumpton and Margaret Livingston, son-in-law, Paul Kelly and her special friend, Royce Carpenter. She is survived by her children, Gordon Franks (Jessica), Andy Franks (Ann), both of Northport, and Susan Franks Kelly of Marietta, GA., 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

A celebration of life service for Mrs. Franks will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel. Brother Clark Sims will be the officiating minister. Visitation for friends and visitors will be from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm prior to the service time at the funeral home. A burial service for the family will be held at the Hamilton City Cemetery in Hamilton, AL. following.

Brian Kelly, Jacob Roebuck, Will Harris, Seth Harris, Patrick Brewer and Shay Thrash will serve as pallbearers and the members of the East Winfield Church of Christ and Hospice of West Alabama employees as Honorary pallbearers.

Mr. Leon Whitehead, age 92 of Winfield passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022. Funeral services for Mr. Whitehead will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from the Winfield First Baptist Church with burial to follow in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens in Gu-Win. Mr. Terry Allen Thompson, better known as Turk, age 59 of Brilliant passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at his residence. Terry was born on October 16, 1962, to Harold and Millie Thompson. Mr. Thompson attended New Life Fellowship Church. He enjoyed fishing and hunting arrowheads in his spare time.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his son, Tyler Thompson, girlfriend, Linda McGraw, father, Harold Thompson (Patty), sisters, Lisa Thompson, and Carolyn Stough, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by the mother of his son, Marie Johnson, stepson, James Johnson, mother, Millie Thompson, brother, Randy Thompson, sister, Roxie Johnson, and a brother in-law, Paul Stough.

Funeral services for Terry will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Eva Merle Hancock, age 83 of Bankston formerly of Davenport, FL passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at the home of her son, Lou Hancock. Mrs. Hancock was born in Lakeland, FL on August 27, 1938. Eva loved fishing, being outdoors and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Hancock is survived by her children, Lou Hancock (Terri) of Bankston, Johnny Hancock (Dawn), Gary Hancock, daughter, Cookie Neviaser all of Davenport, FL., grandchildren, Nicky Hancock (Cameron Taylor), Jamie Bolton (Josh), Justin Hancock (Mary), Jessica Toler, Lindsey Hill (Rhett), Terry Hancock, Thomas Hancock (Sarah), Crystal Deaton (Kyle), Ciara Hancock (Blake), great-great grandchildren, Kyndall, Caroline, Cambre, Madilyn, Brayleigh, Alivia, Molly Ann, Emmie, Lane, Ameera, Jade, Hailey, Kaiden, Henry, Dawson, Emmalyn, Levi, Brylee, Oakleigh, Wesley and Jason, great great-great grandchildren, Audree, Reid, Tucker and Tate and a host of nieces, nephews, fishing buddies and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Leland Hancock, sons, Terry Lee Hancock and Jimmy Dewayne Hancock, a granddaughter, Ashley Renee Hancock, parents, Gary Clyde and Eunice I. Ross, brothers, G. W. Butler and Lucious Butler.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hancock were held on Saturday, February 19, 2022 from the Oak Ridge Funeral Home in Haines City, FL with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery in Davenport, FL.
