Mrs. Martha Alice Harbin Nicholson Benton, age 76 of Winfield passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022 in the DCH Fayette Medical Center.

Mrs. Benton was born in Winfield, Alabama on October 19, 1945 to Louis and Gladys Harbin. She was a lifetime member of the Zion Missionary Baptist Church and a graduate of the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind in Talladega, AL. She worked in various sewing plants and cafés in the Marion County area for many years and owned/operated the Bobo Store. Mrs. Benton loved her Lord and enjoyed telling everyone she met about Him.

Martha is survived by her daughter, Angela Parker, (David), sons, Gaylon Nicholson and Tony Nicholson (Donna), grandchildren, Jessica Barnes,(Danial), Kelli Sullivan (fiancé, Lee Johnson), Ron Nicholson (Tabatha), Drew Nicholson (Cassidy), Paige Phillips (Patrick), Mike Connell (Holly), Jason Cagle (Maudie) and, Renne Pendley, great grandchildren, Amelia Thornton, Isaac, Tyson and Will Barnes, Olivia and Madi Rose Tidwell, Sophie and Natalie Tucker, William and Alex Nicholson, Angie Kohlhaas (Chris), Emily and James Parrish, Cooper Vickery, Keylee Bridgeman, Jax and Gunner Phillips, Braxton, Braylon, Makayla Connell, her sister, Lola Minor, nieces, Tammy Jones, Sondra D’Ambrose, nephew Jonathon Harbin, the Benton family, her church family and a host of other family and close friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Walter Benton, grandson, Stephen Michael Sullivan, her parents, Louis and Gladys Whitehead Harbin, brother, Lemmie Harbin a nephew, Eric Harbin and the father of her children, David Earl Nicholson.

Funeral service for Mrs. Benton will be held on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Liberty Cemetery near Rock City. The visitation will be held on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Mevellean Lenahan Baccus, age 87 of Winfield passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022, in the Sunset Manor Health Care Center in Guin. Mrs. Baccus was born on May 26, 1934, to Roy Lee and Lillian Colley Wallace in Marion County Alabama. She was a member of the Zion Missionary Baptist Church and was employed for many years in the textile industry, with Reltoc Industries, Oneida of Fayette, and Health-Tex Inc. and later worked in the medical field as an EMT and a Certified Nursing Assistant, and in her son’s medical office as his receptionist.

Mrs. Baccus is survived by her son, Dr. William Lee Lenahan, grandchildren, Sabrina Kay Blackburn (John), Crystal Necole Gilreath (Chad), and great- grandchildren, Ella and Bean Blackburn, and Elliot, Cole, and Emma Rae Gilreath, a sister, Youvan Campbell and a host of other family and friends.

Mrs. Baccus was preceded in death by her son, Gary Earl Lenahan, her husbands, John Earl Lenahan, Johnny Hitt, and Brady Baccus, brothers, Roy Lee Wallace Jr., and Dennie D. Wallace, and her parents.

A visitation for Mrs. Baccus will be held on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, from 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel. A private family service will be held on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Zion Missionary Baptist Church.

Mr. James Lewis Turner, Jr., age 59 of Winfield passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at his residence. Mr. Turner was born on August 22, 1962 to James and Lasandra Beasley Turner in Mississippi. He was a graduate of Winfield City High School, and a United States Army Veteran. Mr. Turner was a truck driver for many years working with, Dixie Transport Co. and N & N Transport Co.

James is survived by his son, James Lewis Turner, III, grandson, Josiah Ashdyn Turner, sister, Susan Randolph (Darrell) and his brother, Shawn Allen Turner (Shannon), and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Mr. Turner was preceded in death by his parents, James Lewis Turner, Sr. and LaSanda Beasley Turner, his grandparents, Millard and Nobia Turner and Elmer and Frances Murphy.

A memorial service for Mr. Turner will be held on Sunday, January 30, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home. Bowen Funeral Home service the Turner family.

Mr. Paul Delana Pittman, age 87 of Winfield passed from this life on Monday, January 24, 2022 surrounded by his family that he adored.

Mr. Pittman was born in Arkansas on February 1, 1934 to George Albert and Della Pauline Pittman. He enlisted in the United States Air Force on March 6, 1953. He was stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base in Barksdale, LA and Columbus Air Force Base in Columbus, MS. Following his discharge from service he attended East Mississippi Community College and the University of North Alabama. Mr. Pittman was a founding member of the Faith Church in Winfield. He was always adventurous, traveling the world with his beloved wife. After retirement from his sales career, he would work at the Yellowstone National Park in Colorado during the summer months. His quick wit, infections smile, and kind and compassionate nature will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Mr. Pittman was preceded in death by his father, Albert, his mother, Della, two brothers, Virgil and Elmer, and his sister, Evelyn. He is survived by the love of his life for nearly 67 years, Faye Weeks Pittman, his daughter, Deliska Lee and her husband Sammy, his son, Danny Pittman and his wife Kathy, three grandchildren, Bree Smith her husband Jason, Camron Lee and his wife Brittney and Zachary Pittman, three great grandchildren, Sawyer, Tate and Taegan, his brother, Freddy Pittman and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life service for Mr. Pittman will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from the Faith Church in Winfield with burial to follow in the Wesst Alabama Memorial Gardens in Gu-Win. The visitation will be held on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. service time at the church with Military Honors being presented.
