Melanie Dawn Goodwin, age 48 of Winfield passed away at her residence. Melanie was born on November 2, 1973 in Amory, MS to Rufus and Helen Goodwin. She was a 1992 graduate of Winfield City High School. After graduation, Melanie attended Bevill State Community College where she earned her degree as a registered nurse.

Melanie is survived by her son, Dylan Kent Robertson, her mother, Mary Helen Goodwin, sister, Angela Denese Webb, her niece, Jessica Lane Webb, nephews, Judson Tyler Hubbert, Colton Blake Hubbert, and Eric Gage Webb, great-great nieces and nephews, Rylee Webb, Taylor, Maddie, Lily, and Kaleb Hubbert, her aunt, Faye Beasley and uncle, Ray Franks and a host of other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Rufus Roy “Bunt” Goodwin, grandparents, Rufus and Adell Goodwin and Elmon and Lillie Franks, aunts, Joyce Franks and Ruth Trimm and her uncles, Larry Goodwin, Ray Goodwin, and Roger Goodwin.

Funeral services for Melanie will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in the Zion Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Kenneth Loyd Lawson, age 66, of Kimberly, AL passed away Friday, January 14, 2022, in the UAB Medical Center. Mr. Lawson was born in Jasper, AL on June 30, 1955 to Loyd and Charlene Lawson. He was a 1973 graduate of Mortimer Jordan High School. Kenneth was a home builder in the Birmingham area for over 49 years, and a huge Alabama Football fan.

Mr. Lawson is survived by his son, Eric Lawson (Carman) of Kimberly, granddaughters, Kelsey and Madison Lawson, his mother, Charlene Bowen of Brilliant, sisters, Linda Key (Bill Davis) of Vina, and Susan Bowen Davis (Jimmy) of California, his brothers, Rodney Lawson (Connie) of Eldridge, Dewight Lawson (Belinda) of Nauvoo, Jerome Lawson (Amy) of Double Springs, Jason Lawson (Jennifer) of Kansas, Gralyn Lawson (Renee) of Brookwood, Jarrett Lawson of Hamilton, his step-daughter, Brandy Comans (Jeremy),and step-sons, Josh Tidwell (Candace), and Jeremy Tidwell, step-mother, Emma Lou Lawson of Nauvoo, and his best friend, John Cain of Gardendale and a host of other family and friends.

Mr. Lawson was preceded in death by his father, Loyd Elbert Lawson, stepfather, James Bowen, his niece, Danielle Key, and a sister-in-law, Cheyenne Lawson.

Funeral services for Mr. Lawson will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial on Thursday, January 20, 2022 in the Goldmine Church of Christ Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. Lawson will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lessie Fay Wates Thompson, age 102 of Winfield passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022, in the Northwest Medical Center.

Mrs. Thompson is survived by her daughters, Shirley Rayburn, and Sharon Smith (Donnie), sons, Gary Thompson, and Timothy S. Thompson, brother, Bonnie Wates of Arizona, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family.

Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Thompson, sons, Wayne Thompson, and Bill Thompson, parents, Alfred Wates, and Clara Ellen Myers Wates, brother, Orval Wates, and a sister, Jewel Wates Crauswell.

Ms. Willodean Norris Adams, age 89, of Granite City, Illinois formerly of Winfield passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2022, in Granite City.

Ms. Adams is survived by her sons, Donnie Spiller (Missi), Stephen Spiller, and Theodore Adams (Karie), sister, Jean Norris, cousin, Ilean Myers, and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Ms. Adams was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey Norris Sr., and Edith F. Myers Norris, and a brother, Dewey Norris Jr.

A graveside service for Ms. Adams will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. from the Mt. Pleasant Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
