Brother William Thomas Nix, age 69 of Winfield, passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, in the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Bro. Nix was a member of the New Hope Independent Baptist Church. He was a minister at Springhill Baptist for three years and New Hope Independent Baptist Church for 10 years. Bro. Nix was a Union Iron Worker for over 33 years. He was strong in his faith and would share Jesus with people as much as he could. Thomas loved most being around his family and spending time with them. He was an avid Alabama football fan and enjoyed watching the games with his son and family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Shelia Dillard Nix of Winfield, son Floyd Thomas Nix, Sr. (Kiki) of Winfield, grandchildren, Nicole Robison (Dalton), Tom Nix, Jr. (Alaina), Victoria Smith (Dylan), Brooklyn Nix, Reese Hennicke and Walt Hennicke, his great grandchildren, Addie and Evie Robison, Jordyn Nix, and Ada Jane Smith.

Bro. Nix was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Evie Nix, sisters, Audrey Johnson, Marylee Pollock, and Dessie Hollingsworth, and two brothers, James Earl Nix and Richard Bud Nix.

Funeral services for Bro. Nix will be held on Monday, December 27, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Springhill Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. Nix will be held on Monday 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. (service time) at the funeral home. Thomas Nix, Sr., Bradley Hosch and Brett Burleson will be the officiating a ministers.

Mrs. Laura Louise Banks, age 71 of Winfield went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 19, 2021.

Laura was born on June 6, 1950 in Winfield, AL to the late Reuben and Inez Mayfield. She attended Winfield City High School and West Alabama Community College where she earned her license in barbering.

Mrs. Banks is survived by her sons, Rusty Guin (Ronda) of Martinsburg, WV and George Banks (Abby) of Jasper, grandchildren, Brittany Beil (Jon) of Hua Hin, Thailand, Jordan Guin (Charity) of Martinsburg, WV, Joshua Guin (Candace) of Merrillville, IN, Jaclynn Guin of Martinsburg, WV, Easton and Lily Banks of Jasper, great grandchildren, Remi Guin and Judah Beil, sisters, Mary Bridgeman of Columbiana, AL, Kathline Curtis of Guin, Nelda Thompson of Winfield, brothers, Donald Mayfield of Winfield, Ricky Mayfield of TN and David “Red” Mayfield (Laura) of Guin and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded by her husband, Charles “Dooley” Banks, her parents, Reuben Mayfield and Vera Inez Wallace Mayfield, a daughter, Tamala Mayfield and a son, Jason Guin.

Funeral services for Mrs. Banks will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 12:00 noon from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens in Gu-Win. The visitation will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon (service time) at the funeral home. Ms. Tamera Ann Lynn age 41 of Winfield passed away on Friday, December 17, 2021, at her residence.  Ms. Lynn is survived by her brothers, Jimmie Dale Lynn of California, Robert Earl Lynn (Christine) of Tennessee and William Curtis Lynn (Anita) of Clanton, AL, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William, and Frankie Lynn.

Mr. Lewis Rae “Pap” Vintson age 92 of Brilliant passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at his residence.

Mr. Vintson was a 1949 graduate of Brilliant High School and later received a full football scholarship to Itawamba Community College where he played on their first football team.  Mr. Vintson was drafted into service in 1950 where he served in the Korean War.  He was employed at North River Coal Mines, Local 1926 UMWA in Berry AL for many years where he later retired.  Mr. Vintson was a member of the Brilliant United Methodist Church, the Brilliant Masonic Lodge #601, and the American Legion where he served 65 years.

Mr. Vintson is survived by his sons, Gary Rae Vintson (Debbie) of Orange Beach, Terry Vintson (Tina) of Hamilton, and Jerry Vintson of Brilliant, grandchildren, Ginger Tuck (Scottie), Kara Wood (Shannon), Teagan Wright (Shan), Erica Vintson, Evan Vintson, and Terance Rae Vintson, great-grandchildren, Jackson and Carley Rae Tuck, Madisyn, Landon, and Logan Wright, Stella and Scarlett Wood, and Ella Vintson, and a host of nieces, nephews, church family, and close friends.

Mr. Vintson was preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years Willie Belinda Vintson, parents, Lewis Edmon Vintson and Stella Cockran Vintson, and four brothers O.B. Vintson, William Thomas Vintson, Jack D. Vintson, and James G. Vintson.

Funeral services for Mr. Vintson will be held on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Brilliant Memorial Gardens.  Visitation for Mr. Vintson will be held on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. (service time).
