John Milford Harris, Jr, age 71 of Guin passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at his residence. John was born in Brilliant, Alabama on January 3, 1949 to John Harris, Sr. and Dorothy Harris. John was a 1967 graduate of Winfield City High School. Mr. Harris was champion Roller Skater, and always a hard worker. He loved his family, his friends, and watching Alabama Football.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John Milford Harris, Sr. and Dorothy Lucille Kimbrell Harris, son, Jamie Lee Harris, daughters, Lyndy Harris and Dorothy Annette Harris and a brother, Tommy Harris. He is survived by his sister, Barbara Gould (Travis) of Guin, daughters, Kimberly Ferguson (Gary) of Odenville, Belinda Nichole Harris of Guin and Cyndy Black of MS, grandchildren, Ashlyn Paige Harris, Veronica Dingler (Doug), Zackery Alexander, Kaitlynn Briana Harris, Jamie Ethen Harris, Jarret Henderson, Sarah Beth Martin, Emily Henderson, Samantha Sandlin (Nathan), Austin Benton (Jessica), and host of great great grandchildren, niece, Kathy Childers, nephews, Jacky Harris (Bobbie) and Dillon Gould (Amber) great niece, Kristen Ingram (Steven), great nephew, Lane Harris and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Harris will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Center Cemetery. Herbert Wayne Roberts, age 65 of Winfield, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2020 at his residence.  Mr. Roberts was a 1973 graduate of Winfield City High School.  He was also a member of Eastside Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by his parents, William Herbert and Ruth Bridgeman Roberts.  Mr. Roberts is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kay Ray Roberts; two sons, Keith Herbert Roberts and William Christopher Roberts of Winfield; and a sister, Rhonda (Randy) Robins of Hamilton.  Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm on Saturday, September 19th from Eastside Baptist Church with burial to follow in West Alabama Memorial Gardens.  Cameron Jungels and Venlon Bradford will be the officiating ministers.  Visitation will be from 2:00 until 4:00 pm on Saturday at the church.  The family requests that masks and social distancing guidelines be followed for visitation and funeral service.  Bowen Funeral Home of Winfield serving the Roberts family. 

Linda Gail Dickinson, age 75 of the Gum Thicket community, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2020 in the Northwest Medical Center in Winfield.

Linda was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Winfield. She is survived by her daughters, Angie Hallmark (Dennis) of Winfield, Lisa Kilgore (Dale) of Guin and Robin Dickinson of Winfield, grandchildren, Charity Carter (Lee), Keshia Tucker (Corey), Zach Kilgore, Makayla Dickinson, Jagger Dickinson and Alexya Nelson, great grandchildren, Makenna, Isabella, Adaleigh, Kenzley, Kyran, Lilly, Cruz, Kaycen and Lindley, sister, Betty Jean Dozier, a brother, Jimmy Robbins (Marie) and her sister in law,Patricia “Pat” Doss (Bill), and a host of nieces, nephews, church family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Ralph Dickinson, parents, Theodore Roosevelt Robbins and Ora Mae Robbins, a sister, Emma Lou Ford, and three brothers, Ted, Bobby and Paul Robbins.

Funeral services for Mrs. Dickinson will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Gum-Thicket Dickinson Wates Community Cemetery, formerly New Hope Cemetery. Mr. Hugh  Douglas Whitman, age 80 of Hamilton, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2020 in the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Hugh was born in Virginia on March 31, 1940 to James and Oza Whitman. He was a member of the Fulton Bridge Baptist Church in Hamilton and a 1958 graduate of Brilliant High School. Mr. Whitman was a true salesman; he could sell anything to anyone. He worked various sales jobs in his lifetime; the Marion County News, Winfield Office Supplies, Royal Furniture and Heilig Meyers Furniture in Hamilton. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years, Betty Jean Clark Whitman, his parents, James Martin Whitman, Sr. and Oza Underwood Whitman, his siblings, Sarah Frances Whitman, Mertie Fay Whitman, James Martin Whitman, Jr, Theresa Raye Whitman and Joyce Jean Whitman. Mr. Whitman is survived by his brother in law, Donny Clark (Linda) of Hamilton, niece, Roxanne Whitman of IL, nephews, James Wayne Whitman (Vickie) of IL, Michael Whitman of IL, Adam Don Clark (Sarah) of Augusta, GA, Brandon Allen Clark (Alisha) of Pelham, Cody Michael Clark (Ali) of Hamilton, great nieces, Teagan, Finleigh, Sierra and a great nephew, Dawson, and a host of other relatives, church family and friends.
