Mrs. Linda Martin Sewell, age 80 of Gulf Shores, formerly of Winfield, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 in the Sunset Manor Nursing Facility in Guin. Mrs. Sewell was born in Brilliant, Alabama on February 13, 1945 to Alfred and Annie Laurie Lawrence Martin. She was a long-time member of the Winfield First Methodist Church and a 1962 graduate of Brilliant High School. Linda attended the University of Alabama after graduation where she earned her degree as a registered nurse. She had a passion for nursing and helping others, Linda played a vital role in beginning the Hospice of Northwest Alabama in 1993, she served as the director for 5 years. Mrs. Sewell was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Aubrey L. Sewell, her daughter, Lori Sewell Johnson, her son, Aubrey “Lee” Sewell II, her parents, brother, Royal Martin, stepfather, Robert Ira Smith, and stepbrother-in-law, Jim Cull. She is survived by her grandchildren, Anna Richardson and her husband Matt, Dr. John Lucien Johnson and his wife Lauren, stepbrothers, Robert “Bob” Smith (Cheryl) and Jeff Smith (Mari), stepsister, Mary Lou Cull, sister-in-law, Dianne Martin, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Mrs. Sewell’s family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Saturday, March 1, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service will immediately follow in the Winfield City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Winfield Alumni Association, Lee and Lori Sewell Memorial Scholarship fund at the Citizens Bank of Winfield.

Imogene Rich Barnes, age 76, of Twin passed away on Wednesday February 19, 2025. Mrs. Barnes was born on November 7, 1948 in Brilliant, Alabama. She was the daughter of Wallace and Vera Mae Rich. She was a member of Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church and a resident of Twin most of her life. Imogene was employed with Health-Tex for 24 years until its closing, after which she provided daycare for her grandchildren whom she dearly loved.
Mrs. Barnes is survived her children, Doug Barnes (Ann), Teresa Barnes Hendrix, and David Barnes (Deloris), 7 grandchildren, Holly Hobbs (Ben), Dillon Barnes (Melissa), Courtney Barnes, Hunter Barnes, Brittney Laws (Austin), Justin Hendrix, and Garrett Barnes, 5 great grandchildren, Bella Mae Laws, Blakelynn Laws, Brooke Barnes, Clyde Laws, and Walker Barnes, and her sisters, Evelyn Sue Hosch and Loretta Dunavant (Danny),
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barnes was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton E. Barnes, granddaughter, Heather Hendrix, and her brother, Gaylon Rich.
Funeral services for Mrs. Barnes will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. from the Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church with burial to follow in the adjoining cemetery. The visitation will be held on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. service time at the church.
