Mrs. Sara Jane Franks, age 88, of the Pea Ridge community near Brilliant, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at her residence. She was born on April 8, 1937, in Winfield, Alabama to William Edwin and Lama Hathaway Thomas. She was a 1956 graduate of Marion County High School and a devoted member of Freewater Freewill Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for 38 years. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Sara spent her life as a homemaker, caring for her family. She enjoyed gardening and tending her flowers, sewing, crafting, and baking.

Mrs. Franks is survived be her son, Randall Franks (Paula), her grandchildren, Christian Gillion (John), Catlin Roberts (Gage), and Allen Franks (Gracie), great grandchildren, Garrett and Harper Gillion, and Grayson and Addilyn Franks, her close nieces, Wanda White and Beckie Sims, and a host of other nieces, nephews and extended family members.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Franks was preceded in death by her husband, William Garrison Franks, her son Mike Franks, and siblings, Bud, Frank, Jeff, Irene, and Edwina.

Funeral services for Mrs. Franks will be held on Monday, October 6, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Green Springs Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Jimmy Wayne Barnes, age 82 of the Whites Chapel Community passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at his residence. Mr. Barnes was born on March 15, 1943 in Marion County Alabama to Guy and Ruby Roberts Barnes. He was a member of the Whites Chapel Church of Christ. Jimmy was an electrician with Frontier Mobile Homes in Haleyville for over 30 years and Buccaneer Mobile Homes in Hamilton for almost 15 years until his retirement. Jimmy was a family man and loved being with them as much as possible. He enjoyed working on lawnmowers, watching Alabama Football, and his yearly vacation to Disney World with his family.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nancy Herren Barnes, son , Kelly Jim Barnes, grandchildren, Victoria Madison Barnes and Blake Pearson Barnes, sisters, Pat Ridgeway (Dale), Wanda Loveless (David), Debbie Dodd, Shelia Files, Susan Harkness, Liz Rodgers (Larry), sisters-in-law, Wilma Howell, Evelyn Estes and Linda Sanderson and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Alexandria McKenley Barnes, siblings, Mable Weeks, Shirley Markham, Judy Marcum, Leon Barnes, Charles Barnes and two infant sisters.

Funeral services for Mr. Barnes will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. from the Whites Chapel Church of Christ with burial to follow in the adjoining cemetery. The visitation will be held on Monday from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. service time at the church.

Mrs. Linda Joyce Rye Parr, age 76, of Winfield passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025 in the Grandview Hospital in Birmingham. Linda was born on September 13, 1949 in Marion County Alabama to Archie and Stella Cantrell Rye. Mrs. Parr was a member of the Winfield First Baptist Church and a graduate of Hamilton High School. Linda loved being a homemaker and spending time with her family, she always made taking care of them her priority. She enjoyed traveling to the mountains, the beach, and cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide but most of all she loved spending time with her husband at home.

Mrs. Parr is survived by her husband of 55 years, Jimmy Parr, sons, Ryan Parr (Ketty), Michael Parr (Rebekah) and Lee Parr (Lizzy), her grandchildren, Jordan Parr (Ragan), Kaylee, Karrah, Olivia, Kolsten and Levi, Isabella and Ivanna Parr, her sister, Ann James (Billy), a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Louise Eastmon, brothers, Carlton, Jerry, and Jimmy Rye and a granddaughter, Ashlyn Parr.

Funeral services for Linda will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Zion Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2 :00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.
