Mrs. Hilda Deweese Dudley, age 77, of Winfield passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at her residence. Mrs. Dudley was born May 27, 1946 in Berry, AL to William and Mattie Willis Kimbrell. She was a member of Bethabara Baptist Church of Fayette. Hilda was a 1964 graduate of Fayette County High School. She was employed for more than 20 years as a GED Instructor for the Adult Education Program. In her spare time Hilda enjoyed baking and cooking. Hilda also enjoyed sewing, she was a very talented seamstress, often making clothes for her daughter and family.

Mrs. Dudley is survived by her son, Alan Dudley (Melinda) of Northport, daughter, Susan Gray (Kenneth) of Fayette, grandchildren, Jade Dudley (Connie Wright), Jasmine Jones (Landron), Telisa Clark (Nathaniel), Connor Dudley (Sammi Pulis), and Jacey Kaye Dudley, great-grandchildren, Adam Cunningham, Thomas Cunningham, Elina Clark, Tanna Clark, Grayce Cunningham, Destiny Clark, Chaz Jones, Rawlings Jones, Charlie Pulis, and Cammi Dudley, siblings, Sharon Wallace (Roger), Gary Kimbrell (Martha), and Denise Smith (Donald), brother-in-law, Eddie Strickland, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dudley was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Dudley, granddaughter, Michaela Dudley, and a sister, Karen Strickland.

Funeral services for Mrs. Dudley will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with a graveside service to follow in the Springhill Cemetery near Bluff. The visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Donna Lynn Panter Grimes, age 59, of Brilliant passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2023 in the Northwest Regional Medical Center. Donna was born on May 12, 1964 to Paul and Willar Dean Panter. She was a 1982 graduate of Carbon Hill High School. Donna was a very quiet and humble person, often spending her spare time reading and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Grimes is survived by her sons, Zachary Grimes, Ezekial Grimes and Dylan Grimes, grandchildren, Taylor and Hope, brother, Clevis Panter, sisters, Pam Burkett, Debbra Johnson (Mike), and Kimberly Strickland, and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.

Mrs. Grimes was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Stanley Panter.

Funeral services for Donna will be held on Friday, June 30, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Carbon Hill Memorial Gardens. The visitation will be held on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Brandon Berryhill, age 44 of Winfield passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2023. Funeral services for Brandon are incomplete and will be announced later.

Mr. Richard Rudolph Pope, Jr. age 90 of Winfield, Alabama went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 19, 2023. Mr. Pope was born on August 29, 1932 in Talladega, Alabama to Richard Rudolph Pope, Sr. and Thelma Ladessa Lewis Pope. Mr. Pope was a member of the Winfield Church of Christ. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War with the Sixth Navel Command. Mr. Pope was an entrepreneur, owning many different businesses through the years, including the Bel-Air Hotel in Panama City Beach, FL, and a grocery store on the beach. He made a career in selling cars and working with his bother at Rick Pope Motor Sports-BMW in Tuscaloosa and at Fike’s Chevrolet in Hamilton. Mr. Pope was a diehard Alabama Crimson Tide fan, never missing a game. He always took an active role and enjoyed helping his daughter with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Pope was a loving, kind, and caring man with a very infectious personality; he never met a stranger. He loved his Lord, his family, and his country. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother.

Mr. Pope is survived by his daughter, Ericka Pope Spann, (Keven Harris), his grandchildren, Andrew Dwight Spann, Erin Spann Wytiaz (Bryan), Richard Drake Spann (Kristin) great grandchildren, Jordan, Caroline, Skylar, Penelope and Jaxon, his brother, Steve Pope (Dawn) nieces and nephews, Dewitt Dixon Pope, Jr. (Kathy), Rebecca Lynn Pope, David Pope (Kathryn), Neal Pope (Dawn), Andrea Pope Shannon (Mike) Derek Pope and Josh Pope and a host of church family and close family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Eleanor Anne Gaither Pope, his father, Richard Rudolph Pope, Sr., stepmother, Faye Pope, mother, Thelma Ladessa Lewis Pope, brothers, Dewitt Dixon “Buddy” Pope, Sr., Ricky Pope, and Jimmy Pope.

Funeral services for Mr. Pope will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel, a graveside service will follow in the Winfield City Cemetery with Military Honors. The visitation will be held on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.
