Mr. Jerry Paul Aaron, age 82 of Winfield, passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2021 at his residence.

Jerry attended Kingdom Faith Church and was owner/operator of J & J Body Shop in Brilliant. He enjoyed spending time with his friends drinking coffee and telling stories at his shop. He liked watching old westerns and restoring vintage cars and trucks.

Mr. Aaron is survived by the love of his life, Jenny Scott and her son, Greg Scott (Wendy) of Moundville, his grandson, Zane Scott, mother-in-law, Lois Gilstrap, brother -in-law, Jody Gilstrap (Allyson) of Birmingham nieces, Anna, Abby Gilstrap and nephew, Julian Gilstrap, and a host of other relatives and close friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Oma Lee Aaron, aunts, Pearl Sumner and Hazel Aaron, cousins, Dan Sumner, and James Ingle.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. (service time) with military honors presented. Mrs. Gearl Dine Beckett Sims

February 22, 1932 ~ July 18, 2021

Mrs. Gearl Dine Sims, better known as Gearldine, age 89 of Winfield passed away Sunday, July 18, 2021 at her daughters’ residence.

Mrs. Sims was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and worked for Piggly Wiggly in Winfield for many years.

Mrs. Sims is survived by her daughter, Jean McNeal Killingsworth (Mike) of Fulton Mississippi, twos, Rick Sims, of Moline Illinois, and Kelley Sims of Winfield, two grandchildren, Marcie Sims, and Sonia Sims, nephew, Charles Holcomb (Pam), nieces, Judy Brown, and Lisa Wiginton (Larry), and a host of other family members and friends.

Mrs. Sims was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Sims, Jr., a daughter Debra Sims, and her parents Elmer and Carrie Nation Beckett.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sims will be held on Wednesday, July 21,2021 at 1:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Bethlehem Church Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Wednesday from 12:00 until 1:00 (service time) at the funeral home.

Brother Billy Ray Sullins, age 66 of Winfield, passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2021 in the St. Vincent’s Hospital in Birmingham,

Billy was born on January 9, 1955 in Hamilton, AL to Causton and Helen Sullins. He was a 1973 graduate of Hamilton High School and Pastored along with his wife Sissy at The Oasis Church in Winfield. Billy loved the Lord and had dedicated his life to Him, spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. He was a talented carpenter and fisherman. He loved building handcrafted and vintage birdhouses and was known by many as “The Birdhouse Man”.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Causton and Helen Sullins, a brother, Jimmy Sullins, sister, Sue Armstrong, sister-in-law, Opel Sullins, brother-in-law, Rex Whitehead, and fathers-in-law, Jo Davis and Rusty Whitehead.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sissy Sullins, children, Ben Sullins (Carrie), and Shondra Podmore (Keith), grandchildren, Chris, Karley, Kenzey, Brooklyn, and Kennady, god granddaughter, Halle, brothers, Buddy Sullins (Linda) and Stevie Sullins (Kathy), mother-in-law, Shirley Whitehead, sister-in-law, Gina Lynn (Bryon) and Debbie Whitehead, brothers-in-law, Larry Armstrong (Gloria), and John Davis (Wanda), godchildren, Darin and Cynthia Pate, a very special friend that he loved like a brother, Dr. Timothy Murray, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, his church family and close special friends.

Funeral services for Billy will be held on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel. The visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with services to follow. Mr. Larry Wayne Humbracht, age 76 of Winfield formerly of Bartlett, IL passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at his residence. 

Mr. Humbracht was born on April 24, 1945 in Elgin, IL to Louis and Gladys Humbracht. He was member of Emanuel Church of Christ in Bartlett, IL and a 1963 graduate of Elgin High School in Elgin, IL. Larry was a Volunteer Firemen for the Bartlett Fire Department, and a truck driver for many years until opening his own restaurant / bar named, “Bracht’s Place” in Bartlett, IL. He enjoyed restoring antiques cars, tractors, farming and traveling.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Gladys Schick Humbracht. He is survived by his wife. Barbara Humbracht, children, Jimmy Humbracht (Brenda), Becky Frye (Bucky), Jennifer Rutkowski (Jeff) and stepson, Ricky Dodd (Vera), grandchildren, Stefan (Kaleena) Rutkowski, Adam and Owen Frye, Ben and Sam Humbracht, step grandchildren, Kim Whitehead (Josh), Dana Brubaker (Brian), Melissa Dupuis (Logan), 11 great grandchildren, a brother, Lyndon Humbracht and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

A memorial service for Mr. Humbracht will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the Winfield City Fire Department in Larry’s memory.
