Mrs. Melba Ann Smith, age 78, of Winfield, passed away Sunday, January 26, 2020 at her residence. Melba was loved far and wide and touched many lives throughout the years with her kind words and her big smile.

Melba was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Smith, her parents, Hedrick Hill and Nellie Tittle Hill, brothers, Marshall Hill and Wayne Hill. She is survived by her children, Mikki Smith (Randy Channell), Kim Norris (Kevin), Kyle Smith and Leigh Smith (Charles), grandchildren, Alayna Norris, Zane Miles (Danielle), Dakary Miles (Leslie), Braden Miles (Brandi), Kelby Smith (Miranda), Kamron Smith, great grandchildren, Milleigh, Hutch, Hank, Hoyt, Case, Brileigh and Braelynn on the way, a brother, Arnnie Hill (Brenda), and her nephews, Vander Hill, Ashley Hill and Jason Hill, and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the West Alabama Memorial Gardens in Gu-Win. The visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. (service time) at the funeral home. Zane Miles will be the officiating minister. Mrs. Betty Sue Wolfe Russell, age 76 of Winfield, passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Kemp Meadows Assisted Living Center in Winfield. Mrs. Russell was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Russell, and her parents, Carson Kyle Wolfe and Mahala Meeks Wolfe. Mrs. Russell was well known for her cake baking skills, she was employed with the U.S. Postal Service for many years, serving as Post Master at Glen Allen Post Office in Glen Allen, AL. She is survived by her Children, Marty (Becky) Russell of Montgomery, Sue (Dowell) Clark of Winfield, and Joanne Hill of Cullman, her grandchildren, Bethany (Ryan) Jones of Lakeville, Minnesota, Hannah (Matthew) Wedemeyer of Cheungdu, China, Rachel (Dylan) Hoover of Birmingham, Joshua Russell of Montgomery, Jessica Clark Vickery of Winfield, Brett (Shadon) Clark of Virginia, Kyle (Nicole) Clark of Fayette, AL, Layla Hill of Winfield and Blue Hill of Fayette, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.  Funeral services for Mrs. Russell will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 27, 2020 from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Goodwater Cemetery.  Jimmy Swindle will officiate.  The visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. (service time) on Monday at the funeral home.  In Lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the "Autism Speaks", organization, This email address is being protected from spambots. Mr. Harold Edsel Cotton, age 75, of Brilliant, passed away at his residence Wednesday, January 22, 2020. Mr. Cotton was a 1963 graduate of Brilliant High School and worked for many years in the coal mines.

Harold is survived by his children, Crystal Cotton Nelson (Mike) of Winfield, Darren Cotton of Brilliant, Wesley Cotton of Winfield, grandchildren, James Dakota Cotton (Ally) of San Diego, CA, Dylan Cotton of Brilliant, Sawyer Nelson (Chante’) of Winfield, Seth Nelson of Winfield, Brody Miller of Winfield, Dawson Cotton of Jacksonville, NC, Mackenzie Bourland (Mason) of Tuscaloosa, Dani Beth Cotton, Jack Cotton, and Avery Cotton all of Arley, great grandchildren, Emma Cotton of Curry and Hwarang Cotton of San Diego, CA, brothers, Donny Cotton of Winfield and Mike Cotton (Teresa) of Winfield. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sheena Flippo Cotton and his parents, William Jasper “Jack” Cotton and Helen Christine “Chick” Franklin Cotton.

A memorial service for Harold will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Brilliant Memorial Gardens. Michael Wyatt Spann, age 4, of Winfield, passed away at home, in the loving arms of his parents, on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at 7:17 p.m.

Wyatt has touched many lives all over the world in his short life. He is survived by his parents, Greg and Christy Spann, grandparents, Jannette Spann, and Terry and Sharon Rutledge, his great grandmother, Jimmy Rutledge, aunts and uncles, Stacy and Ronnie Feltman and Elisa and Chris Hester, and God Parents, Donnie and Lisa Strittman, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020 from the Eastside Baptist Church in Winfield at 2:00 p.m. with burial to follow in the Goodwater Cemetery.
