Mr. Robert Elliott, age 86 of Winfield passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at his residence. Mr. Elliott was born on December 2, 1936 in Marion County Alabama to Jason Clarence Elliott, Sr. and Flora Mae Vaughn Elliott. Mr. Elliott considered himself a cowboy and a ladies’ man. He was a U.S. army veteran who worked most of his career at Continental Conveyor as a supervisor, but his passion was farming. Robert enjoyed Alabama athletics but especially football and watching or reading westerns with a good whiskey. He was a 1956 graduate of Brilliant High School.

Mr. Elliott is survived by his children, Matthew Elliott and his wife Katie of Homewood and Rhonda Markham of Winfield, grandchildren, Graham, Parker, Reynolds and Clay Elliott (Kinsey), Meagan Lenahan, and Deandra Owens, great grandchildren, Grace Lenahan and J. J. Moss, sisters, Alice Grant, Linda Guy and Deborah “Cricket” Pridmore (Chuck). He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, Patricia Townley Elliott and Jeanette Huguley King, his sons, David Elliott and Joseph Raburn, a sister, Mary Mobley, and his brothers, Junior, Roger and Buford Elliott.

Funeral services for Mr. Elliott will be held on Friday, October 6th at 4:30 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel. The visitation will be held on Friday from 3:30 until 4:30 service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Terri Lynn Zinn, age 64, of Winfield passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023 in the Northwest Medical Center. Mrs. Zinn was born on March 19, 1959 in Guin, Alabama to Wendell and Betty Nevils Burleson. She was a member of the Encounter Church of Guin and a 1978 graduate of Marion County High School. Terri was employed for 18 years with 3M of Guin before moving to Humana Insurance where she worked for more than 10 years before her retirement. In her spare time Terri enjoyed reading, journaling, and taking care of her family and grandchildren.

Mrs. Zinn is survived by her husband of 13 years, Steve Zinn, children, Kyle Key (Lindy), Cassi Berryhill, and Zoe Millwood (Eric), 15 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, sisters, Deb Sly (Craig), Benita Stanford (Jonathan), brother, Ricky Lee Carruth (Cathy), step mother, Myra Burleson, mother-in-law, Brenda Zinn, nieces, Jade Joy, Kelly Wilcher, and Bridget Koontz, nephews, Heath Cantrell, Lee Carruth and Seth Sly, and a host of other family members.

Mrs. Zinn was preceded in death by grandson, Brayden Gardner, son-in-law, Brandon Berryhill, father, Wendell Burleson, mother, Betty Carruth, stepfather, Claudie Carruth, brother, Stephen Burleson, and grandparents, Johnny and Mary Maxine Nevills and Alves and Era Smith Burleson.

Funeral services for Mrs. Zinn will be held on Sunday, October 1, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Guin City Cemetery. The visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lailoni Mahala Peoples better known as Layla, age 29, of Winfield passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023 in the UAB Medical Center. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama on June 15, 1994 to Steven Scott Hill and Joanne Russell Hill. Lailoni attended Eldridge Church of Christ and Winfield City High School. Lailoni was employed with J.B. Hunt as a truck driver for several years before becoming a full-time mother and homemaker for her family. In her spare time Lailoni enjoyed many hobbies, some of which were crafting, gardening, hiking, hunting and fishing, canning and preserving, yoga, antiquing, reading, animal keeping, and listening to music.

Lailoni is survived by her husband, Sam Peoples, her children, Gatlin Hoyt Peoples, Faith Elaine Peoples, and Joey Pattrick Walker Proffitt, father, Scott Hill, mother, Jodie Hill, brother, Blue Berry Hill, grandmother, Margaret Hill, parents-in-law, Greg Peoples (Dana) and Marsha Garner, sister-in-law, Bethany Clifton (Nick) and a host of other family members and friends.

Lailoni was preceded in death by her grandparents, J.B. and Betty Russell and Obie Hill.

A private family graveside service will be held for Mrs. Peoples.

Mr. Theron James Stricklin, age 51, of Huntsville, formerly of Winfield, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023 in the Hospice Family Care Facility. Theron was born on November 1, 1971 in Amory, MS to Harry Stricklin and Shirley Silas. He was a 1989 graduate of Liberty Christian Academy and spent much of his life working in construction.
Theron enjoyed spending his spare time being outdoors, hiking, gaming, collecting Marvel heroes, and watching sitcoms and Alabama Football.

Mr. Stricklin is survived by his sons, Zackary Stricklin, and Johnathan Stricklin (Laura Camila) father, Harry Stricklin, brothers, Glenn Stricklin, Phillip Stricklin (Theresa), Craig Stricklin (Angie), David Stricklin (Tori), stepsiblings, Allen Carter (Angela Davis), and Elesa Carter, nieces and nephews, Josh, Justin, Alyson, Kolby, Parker and Tyler Stricklin, and Chaselyn Tucker, and a host of other family members and friends.

Mr. Stricklin was preceded in death by his daughter, Tiffany Stricklin, and his mother, Shirley Silas.

Funeral services for Mr. Stricklin will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. The visitation will be held on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Jonathon Stricklin, Zackary Stricklin, David Stricklin, Kolby Sticklin, Tyler Stricklin and Parker Stricklin. Officiating minister will be Eddie Ayers.
