Mrs. Joyce DoddMrs. Joyce Dodd, age 77, of The Sunny Home Community near Brilliant, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Winfield. Mrs. Dodd was a member of the Oak Grove Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Earlene Tittle Baker, a brother, Donald Ray Baker, and a grandson Kenneth Blake Dodd. She is survived by her husband, Earnest Dodd, sons, Kenny (Linda) Dodd of Winfield, and Jeff (Jeanine) Dodd of Northport, Grandchildren, Jeremiah (Jessica) Dodd of Northport, Jena Dodd of Northport, and Brody Dodd of Winfield, sister, Shelby Tucker of Eldridge, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the Oak Grove Church of Christ with burial to follow in the adjoining cemetery, Bobby Dodd and Thurman Hubbert will be the officiating ministers. The Body will lie in state from 1-2 p.m. on Friday at the church. Mrs. Cleo Mavis CrumptonMrs. Cleo Mavis Crumpton, age 87 of Pinson, fomerly of Hamilton, passed away on September 15, 2011 at her home. Cleo was born on September 26, 1923. She was known as "Nanny", but more importantly, "MaMa." Mrs. Crumpton was a member of the 25th Ave. Baptist Church of Centerpoint. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Nelson A. Crumpton, her parents John and Della Roberts, five sisters, five brothers, and a grandchild Mary Lindsey. Cleo had a great love for the Lord which she demonstrated by her Christian ministry. Her desire was to see the lost saved and she never let an opportunity pass without witnessing to everyone she came in contact with. She also loved to cook and took great pleasure in cooking for her family, especially her chicken and dumplings, fried apple pies, and homemade biscuits. She is survived by two sons, Arvel (Linda) and Charles (Virginia) Crumpton, a brother Elmo (Hazel) Roberts, sister Carol Shotts, 6 grandchildren, Amy, John, Jeff, Scott, Todd, Kellie, 14 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 pm. Monday, Sept. 19 from the 25th Avenue Baptist Church of Center Point. The family will recieve friends from 10:30 a.m. until service time on Monday at the Church. Burial will be in the Chalkville First Baptist Church Cemetery on Old Springville Rd. Brother Mike Young will be the officiating minister. Steve Moode, Jeffrey and Johnathon Crumpton, Kaleb and Zachary Moode, John Crumpton, and Donald Roberts will serve as Pallbearers. Mr. Felix Mr. Felix "Buddy" Farris, age 86 of Trenton Michigan, fomerly of the Lynn and Haleyville communities, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 in Michigan. Mr. Farris was preceded in death by his parents Jonas and Alma Dodd Farris, his wife Cozetta Farris, and several brothers and sisters. He is survived by his Children, Terry Farris, Brenda Cosby (Denver), and Dennis Farris (Stephanie), sisters, Dorothy, Sue, and Betty, 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchidren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2011, from the Oak Grove Church of Chirst with burial to follow in the adjoining church cemetery. Bobby Dodd will be the officiating minister. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 10, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
