Mrs. Mary Ruth Dodson Adkins, age 80 of Winfield, peacefully slipped on to her Heavenly reward on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at her residence. Mary Ruth was born in Fayette County, Alabama on October 21, 1939 to Eufaula Byron and Lucy Belle Byars Dodson. She was a 1958 graduate of Winfield City High School. Six days after graduation, Mary Ruth married the love of her life, Roger Adkins, on June 1, 1958. She was a homemaker for many years. She then worked at Munsingwear in Guin, Bill Rayburn Insurance Agency, and the Plantation Steakhouse for over 20 years. Everyone spoke of her jovial personality, her funny stories, and her love for all people. She enjoyed church activities, the Red Hat Club, Sweet Adeline’s, playing Rook with her friends and spending time with her family at the lake. Mary Ruth loved to sing and was blessed with the unique talent of yodeling.

Mrs. Adkins is survived by her husband of over 61 years, Roger Adkins, her daughters, Amy Meherg and Cindy Webster (Randy) both of Winfield, sons, Richard Adkins (Debbie) of Trinity, AL, and Mac Adkins (Kim) of Prattville, AL, ten grandchildren, Scott Randolph, Paige Randolph Johnston (Mark), Michelle Adkins Prince (Joe), Rachel Adkins Dixon (Brandon), Blake Meherg, Ben Meherg (Mikela), Sam and Haley Webster and Andrew and Annabelle Adkins, four great grandchildren, Boone, Hannah, Bristol and Millie, sisters, Louise Burleson, Martha Nell Oelberg and Donna Harkins and a host of nieces, nephews, and other close relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eufaula and Lucy Belle Dodson and her brothers, Charlie Joe and Byron Dodson.

A private family graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at the West Alabama Memorial Gardens in Gu-Win. Bobby Wright, James Wyers and Mac Adkins will be the officiating ministers. Mr. Harold L. McDonald, age 89 of Winfield in the Wayside Community, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2020 at his residence. Mr. McDonald was born on May 6, 1930 to Ulus Grant and Etma Langston McDonald. He was a 1948 graduate of Winfield City High School. He earned a Master’s Degree in Education from Mississippi State University and a degree in Agriculture from Auburn University. Harold was the Principle and teacher at Wayside School, he taught Ag / Shop at Winfield City High School and taught Sunday School at Wayside Methodist Church for many years. After thirty-one and a half years of being an educator, Mr. McDonald retired and took up fishing with his childhood friend and classmate, James Webster. Harold was an avid gardener, he could grow anything from vegetables to flowers, he enjoyed raising and showing horses, spending time with his family and telling stories to his grandchildren.
Harold is survived by his wife of nearly 69 years, Bertie Mae Cole McDonald, his children, Carol Wilson, Edwin McDonald, Marie Terrell (Gary), and Paula Lash (Hank), ten grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and a brother, Dan McDonald (Kay). He was preceded in death by his parents, Ulus G. and Etma McDonald and a brother, Douglas McDonald.

Mr. Hermon Walter Green, age 74, of Winfield, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at his residence. Hermon was born on February 27, 1946 in Hamilton, AL to James Floyd Green and Esther Beasley Green. Mr. Green was a Winfield High School Graduate and was an owner/operator of his own small engine repair shop for many years.

Hermon is survived by his wife of nearly 52 years, Lillie Mae Bishop Green, a daughter, Tina Michelle Martinez (Cliserio) of Winfield, sons, Terry Lynn Green (Jennifer) of Jasper and Thomas Jason Green of Winfield, nine grandchildren, Haley, Brittany, Harley (Bradley), Trevor, Hannah, Hunter (Christie), Micah, Brenton and Kylee, nine great grandchildren, Lily, Jaxson, Jonathan, Mason, Myrah Emma Grace, Zaylee, Brayden, Heath and Rhett, a sister, Lula Mae Green Eaton of Tuscaloosa and brother, John Wesley Green (Terumi) of Laurel, MS and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and close friends. He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Allen Green, his parents, Floyd and Esther Green, sisters, Hazel Nell Green, Mary Green, Judy Green Weaver, brothers, James Edgar Green and Floyd Green, Jr.

The visitation for Mr. Green will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel with a graveside service immediately following at Old Union Cemetery near Wayside. Mr. John Morris Hull, age 71, of Winfield in the Wayside Community, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2020 at his residence. John was born on October 30, 1948 in Rockford, AL to Brother James Morris Hull and Lora Edna Sommer Hull. Mr. Hull was as member of Siloam Baptist Church, and a 1967 graduate of Winfield City High School and attended Northwest State Technical College in Hamilton, AL. He retired from 3M Company in 2013 after 40 years of service.

John is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Freddie Ward Hull, his children, Kim Cummins (Glenn) of Lubbock, TX, Craig Hull (Melanie) of Winfield and Lora Vaughan (Stephen) of Winfield, nine grandchildren, Erin, Kelsey, Jenna, Karly, Jonathan, Kinley, Zoe, Max and Ella; Mary Trimm, mother of Erin, Jenna and Jonathan, three great grandchildren, Sloane, Natalie, and Parker, a sister, Rebecca Tison (Ronald) of Rockford, AL, sisters in law, Mary Chappell (Seaborn), and Frances Burns, brothers in law, Gary Ward and Dewey Ward (Sandy), and a host of nieces, nephews and other close family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Morris Hull and Edna Sommer Hull.

The funeral service for Mr. Hull will be held on Friday March 27, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. from the Siloam Baptist Church with burial to follow in the adjoining cemetery. Brother Delbert Preuninger will be the officiating minister. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. from the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel.
